eCommerce
The cutting edge for business today is Ecommerce. Broadly defined
ECommerce is a modern business methodology that addresses the needs of
organizations, merchants, and consumers to cut costs while improving the
quality of goods and services along with increasing speed of service
delivery. More commonly, e-commerce is associated with the buying and
selling of information, products, and services via computer networks
today and in the future via any one of the myriad of networks that make
up the Information super highway.
Contemporary electronic commerce involves everything from ordering
"digital" content for immediate online consumption, to ordering
conventional goods and services, to "meta" services to facilitate other
types of electronic commerce. On the institutional level, big
corporations and financial institutions use the internet to exchange
financial data to facilitate domestic and international business.
Ecommerce for our purposes includes building web sites, shopping carts,
forms etc. that are linked to payment gateways like PayPal (which aslo
accepts most credit cards), to other gateways and including direct
billing. |
